Cleethorpes Town U9 Girls – A Team With a Big Future Ahead!

⚽️📸Saturday 3rd October 2026 | DG ProView

Saturday morning was spent with the fantastic Cleethorpes Town Women & Girls U9s, capturing their new kit and sponsor launch, followed by their home fixture against Barrowby what a brilliant morning it was! From the moment I arrived, one thing really stood out — the fantastic atmosphere surrounding this group of young footballers. There's a real sense of togetherness at Cleethorpes Town U9s. The coaches are incredibly supportive, the parents are enthusiastic and encouraging, and most importantly, the girls clearly love playing football, exactly what grassroots football should be about!

More Than Just Football ⚽️Watching the girls in action, it's clear that this is a team developing something special. They've made an amazing start to the 2026/27 season, and their confidence, teamwork and enthusiasm are there for everyone to see. What impressed me just as much as the football was the positivity around the pitch. Coaches offering encouragement, parents cheering the girls on and a group of players enjoying every minute together. There's a brilliant vibe around this team, and you get the feeling that this is only the beginning of something exciting.

From Wildcats to U9s: A Team Growing Together! I also caught up with one of the team's coaches, Tim Wilkins, who shared some fantastic insight into the journey these girls have been on.

From Tim Wilkins – Cleethorpes Town U9s Coach: "What started at Saturday morning Wildcats has grown into a brilliant team of 11 young footballers. Every girl in the Cleethorpes Town Women & Girls U9s squad has come through the club's pathway, first discovering the game at Wildcats before forming an U8s team last season. Their first experience of league football came in the U7s Crofts Boys League. It wasn't always easy, but the challenges they faced became an important part of their journey. The girls kept learning, improving and, most importantly, enjoying their football together. Now competing in the U9s Lincolnshire Girls League for the 2026/27 season, all that hard work is beginning to shine through. The performances and results show just how much this talented group has developed. Eleven girls, one team and an exciting journey ahead. The best is still to come. A Bright Future Ahead.

🌟Tim's words really sum up what makes this team special. These girls have grown together, faced challenges together and are now starting to see the rewards of their hard work. With a dedicated coaching team, brilliant support from the side lines and a group of players who clearly enjoy being part of the team, the foundations are there for a very exciting future. For me, mornings like this are exactly why I love photographing grassroots football it's not just about capturing goals, tackles or celebrations. It's about documenting the journey, the friendships, the development and those special moments that players and families can look back on for years to come.

Thank You From DG ProView 📸A massive thank you to everyone at Cleethorpes Town U9 Girls for making me feel so welcome on Saturday morning it was a pleasure capturing the kit launch and the action against Barrowby, and I look forward to seeing how this talented group progresses throughout the season. Keep enjoying your football, girls — you've got a big future ahead of you! ⚽️
